Barcelona has officially announced the appointment of Hansi Flick as their new manager for the next two years, taking over from Xavi Hernandez.
The confirmation came on Wednesday following Vice-President Rafa Yuste's statement on Tuesday.
The delay in Flick's announcement was due to the finalization of severance details with outgoing manager Xavi Hernandez.
Meanwhile, Xavi, who waived the €11-12 million owed for his final year, will reclaim the €2.5 million he paid to join from Al-Sadd. Additionally, his staff will retain their fees in their redundancy package.
Flick’s appointment holds significant weight for President Joan Laporta.
According to Diario AS, if Flick fails, it could potentially jeopardize Laporta’s position ahead of the 2026 elections. Conversely, a successful tenure could bolster Laporta’s bid for a fourth term at the club.
The future of Sporting Director Deco is also intertwined with the team’s performance this summer.
