A man has stirred conversations online after calling out the fake lifestyles people flaunt on WhatsApp, using a specific example that exposed a contact on his list who downloaded and posted a Pinterest photo to appear wealthy.

The man, known by his handle @heisphilip1_, revealed that while scrolling through WhatsApp statuses, he came across a post from someone in his contact list who appeared to be enjoying a lavish lifestyle. The image featured a box of pizza placed neatly on a well-laid bed, suggesting a cozy, expensive meal and relaxed living.

However, out of curiosity, @heisphilip1_ ran a reverse search of the photo on Pinterestβand to his surprise, he found the exact same picture uploaded on the platform. This proved that the guy had copied it from Pinterest and uploaded it on his WhatsApp status to give the false impression that it was his own life experience.

The discovery prompted the man to share his thoughts on TikTok, expressing how fake lifestyles are becoming increasingly common on WhatsApp. According to him, people go as far as using stock photos from sites like Pinterest just to impress or oppress others on their contact lists.
